Gorey Celtic 3 - 2 St Josephs
Celtic returned to league action on Saturday night, with a well deserved 3-2 win over St. Josephs, victory came at a huge cost though, as William Doyle sustained a broken leg on 30 minutes,.
Celtic opened the brighter, taking the game to St. Josephs from the start, on 15 minutes David O,Brien opened the scoring from close range following good wing play from Ger Carey. Celtic were in complete control at this stage, goal number 2 seemed only a matter of time, as Celtic bossed possession.
On 30 minutes, a sickening clash, saw Will Doyle being removed by ambulance to Wexford Hospital, a delay of over 45 minutes took place before the game recommenced, with 5 minutes of the restart David O Brien increased Celtics lead with a smart finish from 10 yards.

Celtic started the 2nd period looking to kill the game with a 3rd goal, on 60 minutes a 25 yard free kick took a wicked deflection of the wall to bring St.Josephs back into it, within 2 minutes, Celtic replied with a fine strike from Phelim Gallaher, following a wonderful piece of trickery on the endline from Craig Connor.
On 80 minutes St.Josephs came back into the game with a headed effort from 8 yards following a corner,
the last 10 minutes saw St. Josephs attack frantically in the hope of finding an equaliser, Celtic defended if their lifes depended on it. In fairness to St.Josephs they came close on a few occassions.
90+3 saw referee Steven Vardy finally blow for full time at 10.30 pm
A welcoming 3 points, but over shadowed by the injury to William Doyle.
At the time of writing this report, William will be going for a 2nd operation on Tuesday
in Waterford Regional Hospital.
