Gorey Celtic 2 - 0 Caim
The boys wew brilliant today, some of the best football we've played all season, right from the first whistle we were at the races and really up for this.
Caim were big and strong and will give us problems in the league game but on the day they couldnt match our application or ability to pass the ball.
We had chance after chance early on with Joe McNulty winning another penalty for the second game running and Celtic missing again from 12 yards, Ross Reardon being the guilty party this time.
Celtic continued to create and miss plenty of good chances with the best chances falling to McNulty, Reardon, Adam Connor and Jared McGirr but credit to the lads they never panicked and kept playing good football and were rewarded with 2 goals late in the 1st half, 2 great efforts, the 1st from man of the match Ross O'Connor and the brilliant McGirr.
H.T. 2-0
A good chat at half-time and spoke about being solid and professional and the lads responded by keeping things simple, working hard and not letting Caim back into the game through any silly mistakes.
Celtic really should have added further to the scoreline, hitting the woodwork through Mark Doran, McGirr and Reardon.
The 13 on duty were superb, the back 4 won everything and kept another clean sheet, the midfield 4 were immense and kept Celtic going forward with their passing and movement. The 2 boys up front kept the Caim defence busy as they ran themselves into the ground.
As good as it gets at this level and hopefully now we can get a good cup run under our belts, we'd have to fancy ourselves at home to anyone with no team to find the net against us in Umbro Park.
