Trinity Corinthians 4 - 1 Gorey Celtic

Celtic exited the Leinster Junior Cup last 32 on Saturday afternoon, with a brave performance against a Trinithy Corinthians team with designs on winning the tournament.

Celtic started the brighter, on 6 minutes David O'Brien firing in a inviting cross that just need a touch from 6 yards, unbelievably it evaded our incoming attackers and on 20 minutes, Craig Connor effort from 20 yards went wide.
Trinithy opened the scoring on 25 minutes, a simple but effective effort, a deep cross came into the penalty box, the Trinithy centre forward lost his marker to head home from 12 yards.
On 30 mins the whole complexion of the game changed, Craig Connor harshly being given a straight red. 35 mins saw Trinithy awarded a very dubious penalty, the resultant penalty giving Big Jack no chance as it was powerfully dispatched.

H.T. 2-0

Celtic went to 3-5-1 formation for the 2nd period, bravely taking the game to Trinithy, on 60 mins Celtic went 3 down, a goal that had more of a hint of offside about it.
Pride now was the only thing at stake, Tiernan O'Gara pulled a consolation back for Celtic with a strike on 70 minutes an d he could have had another on 75 when his effort went narrowly wide. Trinithy wrapped up preceedings with a 4th on the break on 80 mins.

Celtic never gave up, it would have been easy to throw in the towel with 10 men and get a hiding. That never happened.
The team competed and caused problems for Trinthy at times. Trinithy were very streetwise and had a number of very good players, Celtics best performers on the day were David O'Brien and Paul Timmins, both lads were asked to play in a wing back formation and worked tirelessly.

A great adventure came to an end, we will have learned from it.
