Campile 2 - 0 Gorey Celtic

Celtics 1st away game of the season, saw them make the long journey to Campile, only to come home pointless, after 2 first half strikes secured the points for the home team.

Celtic hopes were dealt a blow before a ball was kicked. Ger Carey (ankle) and Danny Reilly (hamstring) not making the squad.
The opening 20 minutes saw Celtic settle well, coping with the occasional Campile attacks and creating a few half chances, on 20 mins Noel Kenny was forced off due to a leg injury.
Campile opened their account on 25 mins. A 25 yard free kick was launched into the heart of the Celtic defence, a Campile attacker winning a header which dropped to the feet of a Campile forward 8 yards out, who made no mistake. This setback seemed to stun Celtic and it was Campile who went from strength to strength as the half progreesed. Campiles 2nd arrived on 40 minutes, An attack on Celtics leftside of defence, saw the attacker evade two weak challenges, get to the byline and float in a cross which was headed homefrom close range.
At this stage Celtic looked in serious trouble,

H.T.: 2-0

Celtic started the 2nd half in a much more positive fashion, taking the game to Campile. It has to be said that the Campile back 4 dont do " pretty", if needed, the ball was hoofed 50 or 60 yards.
Celtic were having all the posession, but finding the Campile defence tough to crack, on 65 minutes Celtics appeal for a penalty were turned down, from the sideline it seemed that a Campile defender a caught the ball in the penalty box, to the bemusement of players and mentors, the referee waved their appeals away.
On 70 minutes, a David O'Brien headed effort from 12 yards hits the upright and rebounds into the goalkeeper arms, on 80 Minutes a 20 yards drive from "Gooch" goes narrowly wide. The only time that Campile came close to increasing their advantage, was when they hit long 50 / 60 yard punts upfield which their forwards were happy to chase.

A disappointing start to the season, which has seen us take 1 point from a possible 6. Both teams we have played so far have been solid and organised, but beatable.....
We are mis-firing in a couple of positions and confidence is a little low. But good players dont become bad players overnight.
We are at home Sunday next vs. Corach Ramblers.
We have to work hard and stay positive, 3 points will kickstart our season.
