Wexford Celtic under 14 3 - 0 Gorey Celtic under 14
Celtic started very well and looked solid and composed, they were also dangerous going forward and created a couple of decent goal chances with Ross O'Connor getting on the end of a great crosss from Ross Reardon but unfortunatly putting the ball wide of the post. Another good chance came and went with a fine through ball from midfielder Mark Doran putting O'Connor in on goal and his shot bringing a great save from the Wexford town keeper. Jakob Konkel making a few good saves in the Celtic goal.
H.T.: 0 - 0
There was nothing between the teams in the early stages of the 2nd period until a slip from the otherwise immaculate Sean Kelly gifted the Wexford town side a goal. The first goal was always going to be decisive.
Wexford Celtic's 2nd came from the penalty spot after a crazy handball from the Celtic centre back. Celtic began to really rally back at this stage attacking Wexford at every opportunity, but the killer 3rd goal, which never should have been allowed, came direct from a corner which didnt seem to cross the line but to the amazment of both sets of players the ref gave the goal.
This goal really took the fight out of Celtic and they just played out the game without looking like pulling a goal back.
Celtic should have been out of sight, only 2 goals to show for their efforts, whilst a 5 or 6 goal tally would have been a fairer reflection of their dominance at half-time.
All the Celtic players put in a great effort for the 2nd week in a row, a man of the match from Peter Byrne, just pipping the ever improving Jakob Konkel in goal.
