Gorey Celtic 0 - 0 Wexford Celtic

One must question wisdom in playing games in Hurricane Conditions. Any chance of a good game went out the window, with a strong to storm force westerly gale creating havoc in Umbro Park on Sunday last.

The scoreline really tells its own story, in a game low on quality, scoring chances were few and far between, with both teams seemingly happy with a point long before the final whistle, the best chances in the first half came from Gorey Celtic, with Ger Carey and Phelim Gallaher going close with efforts from inside the box, Celtic keeper Colm O'Leary was rarely tested, which was surprising as Celtic played into the gale in the first half.

H.T.: 0-0

The 2nd half saw Celtic go on the offensive, but their usual passing game was getting bogged down in Midfield, as Wexford played a 5 man midfield in the hope of grinding out a point. At times Celtic went direct, but this tactic did not work as most attempts at long ball passing got caught in the wind.
The 2 best chances of the 2nd half fell to David O Brien, whos inswinging corner hit a post and a Wes Fitzpatrick turn and shot in the 18 yard box which went well wide.

Team: Colm O'Leary, Brendan Doyle, David Melia, Mark Tyndall, Paul Timmins, Ger Carey, William Keogh, William Doyle, David O'Brien, Danny Reilly, Phelim Gallagher.

Subs: Wes Fitzpatrick for Gallagher (60 mins), David Gahan for Carey (70 mins), Craig Connor.
