Gorey Celtic 8 - 0 St. Josephs
It was a beautiful day for football at Umbro Park and our girls didn't disappoint with a great display put on by the girls. We had to field a very young team as we were missing some girls today and we thought we were up against it when we saw a much bigger St. Joesphs team.
Our girls started at a quick pace and played some excellent football but couldn't find the back of the net with chance after chance being missed and some fine saves from the St. Josephs keeper. Then up pops Debhlinn Yeats not content with beating 1 player she beats 3 or 4 and finished of a great run with a delightful shot into the back of the net . This goal seem to catapult the girls on to a different level and the flood gates opened with Debhlinn completing her hat-trick before the break

After the break the girls kept up the momentum and our midfield of Debhlinn, Caragh, Amy and Polina bossing the game . Up front Niamh and Ellia provided great targets and gave great options. And Niamh found her shooting boots after the break and found the back of the net 4 times her third was something special winning the ball of a girl nearly twice her size and beaten 2 more girls to finish of a great move. Debhlinn added to her first half hat-trick with her forth goal to cap a brilliant display by her.
Molly Maher, Polina Treacy and Niamh Woodcock play really well as this was their first competitive match .Our backline of Stacy and Katie M. and goalkeeper Caoimhie have to get a special mention as they dealt with everything that came their way and it reflected in the result as they kept a clean sheet.
