Orrill United 0 - 0 Gorey Celtic

Celtics ninth league game of the season saw the Celts play their sixth away game against an Orrill United second team on a sunny day at their Marshalltown pitch, with the game kicking off at 2pm.

The game ended in a scoreless draw reflecting on the domination of both sets of defenders with clear-cut chances being few and far between. The best of the chances arose at dead-ball situations but clinical finishing was not the name of the day on this occasion.
The first chance fell to Darren O'Mahony in the 3rd min when following a nice cross he rose only to head into the side netting. The next chance arose six minutes later when following a Celtic free kick the keeper let ball rebound off his chest only for the Orrill defence to clear before the Celtic forwards could get a toe to the ball.
Orrill came close after 13min when they broke down the left wing leaving the goalkeeper stranded only to cross the ball across an empty goalmouth, the ball finally being cleared by the towering Tom Croft. Celtic threatened from a Liam Clarke corner which was met by Sean Feeney only for the ball to fly over the crossbar. They had another opportunity after 28min when Liam Clarke chipped over the Orrill defence which Clyde latched onto, forcing the Orrill keeper into a good save.

H.T.:0-0

The second half started with an Orrill chance when the Celtic backs uncharacteristically switched off for a moment allowing an Orrill forward to split the defence only to shoot across the goal area and wide. Damien Mordalski was introduced on the 54th min for Sean Feeney. Celtic came close from a Liam Clarke corner shortly after. Kris Nowak was introduced for Darren O'Mahony on the 63rd min.
The closest the game got to a goal came on the 65th min when the Celtic keeper was deemed to have handled the ball outside the area, giving Orrill a free kick from the edge of the penalty box which they struck only to hit the upright.
Mark Walsh was brought on in place of Liam Clarke on the 71st min. Anthony Murphy made a good save from an Orrill effort minutes later. Celtics best chance came on the 87th min coming from a free kick from outside the penalty box with Damien Mordalski sending in a well placed right footed effort which the Orrill keeper was forced to parry out sideways to his left.

On the positive side Celtic once again managed to keep a clean sheet and gained an away point against an improving Orrill side.
Thanks are extended to Celtic veteran Anthony Murphy who filled in more than ably between the posts.
