Gorey Celtic 1 - 1 Bridge Rovers
Celtic’s tenth league game of the season saw the Celts play their fourth home game of the season against Bridge Rovers third team the game kicking off at 12pm at Umbro park.
The opening chance fell after a minute with John Lavery making a good break down the right wing and sending in a fast paced cross which was met by Colin McShane who produced a glancing header just wide of the left upright. The opening goal of the game came when Bridge Rovers sent a long ball forward toward the Celtic goal, the high bounce of the wind assisted ball deceived last minute stand in keeper Liam Clarke to leave the Celts one goal down early in play.
Celtic came close after 18 min when Tom Croft drove the ball over the bar from a free kick just outside the box. Celtic again threatened following a good through ball from Barry Glencross which Darren O'Mahony latched onto only to drive it wide and to the right of the goalmouth. The next Celtic chance arose on the 32nd min when Mark Walsh crossed in from the right with John Lavery heading the ball toward goal only for the ball to be deflected off a Bridge defender. Another opportunity arrived on the 35min with Chris Cullen finding a defence splitting pass from long range to feed Mark Walsh who laid the ball off to Darren who then in turn forced a good save from the Bridge keeper. Sean Feeney came close just before half time when he connected with a free kick only to head to the right of the upright.

The first chance of the second period came from a Colin McShane effort which crossed just over and parallel to the crossbar ending up just wide. A double substitution came into play on the 52nd minute with Mike Hassett being introduced for Chris Cullen and Clyde Phayers for Darren o Mahony.
Shortly afterwards Clyde shot directly into the keepers hands following some good work by Mark Walsh. On the 55min another chance came following a short corner to Mike Hassett who delivered a cross to Sean Feeney who headed just wide. Colin McShane found himself one on one with the keeper following a long ball over the top only for the keeper to save. The equaliser came on the 61st min when the referee deemed a Bridge defender to have handled a Mark Walsh shot inside the area giving a kick from the penalty spot. Colin McShane stepped up to dispatch the ball to the right of the keeper the well placed left footed strike brushing past the upright making it 1-1.
Kris Swinton was introduced for the injured Sean Feeney on the 66th min. Celtic almost scored on the 82nd min when Mike Hassett unleashed a ferocious left footed strike from 30 yds which hit the butt of the right upright. Just before full time Kris Swinton found himself one on one with the keeper only for the keeper to smother the ball at close range.
The game ended in a one all draw with the Celtic men pushing very hard in the second half for the elusive winner, they created plenty of chances but were unlucky when it came to their finishing.
