Gorey Celtic Youths 2 - 8 Campile Youths

An under-strength Celtic got off to the worse possible start to their season after a heavy defeat to a strong Campile team.
The Celtic team consisting of mainly under 16 players found themselves 4 - 0 down after 30 mins of play but to their credit they never stopped trying and got their reward on 40 when they pulled a goal back through a great strike from John Kavanagh.

H.T.: 1 - 4

Celtic started the 2nd half looking determinded to at least try make up for the poor 1st half showing and started to put more pressure on the Campile players when they had the ball, this leading to sum very physical tackles from the Celtic boys. On 55 mins Celtic made it 4 - 2, a long run and fine finish from the impressive John Kavanagh. Celtic were right back in the game at this stage but as the longer the game went on Celtic started to tired on the huge Mullaunfin pitch, Campile took control once again and hit 4 late goals.

A bad day for the young Celtic lads but with everyone showing a willingness to work hard for each other things arent as bad as the scoreline suggests with John Kavanagh, Young Chunky Byrne, Steven Kinsella and Ken Browne leading the way with the effort they put in.

Team: Padraig Flood, Alex Kavanagh, Ken "Chunky" Byrne, Steven Kinsella, Ken Browne, Darren Kavanagh, Martin McDermott, John Kavanagh, Chris Byrne, Niall McGrath, Darragh Kenny.

Subs: Andrew Clancy for McGrath (H.T), James Cox for Darren Kavanagh (60 mins), Padraig Lucas for McDermott ( 60 mins inj.)
